EsmoDame Fast 40 contains Esomeprazole 40 mg — the S-enantiomer of omeprazole and a member of the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) class. Esomeprazole is characterised by improved bioavailability and more predictable pharmacokinetics compared to racemic omeprazole, resulting in superior and more consistent intragastric acid suppression.
Indications & Uses
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), including erosive esophagitis
- Symptomatic acid reflux and heartburn
- Peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal)
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole
Irreversibly inhibits the H⁺/K⁺ ATPase proton pump in gastric parietal cells, producing potent and sustained suppression of acid secretion. As the S-isomer, it offers more consistent acid control than racemic omeprazole.
